The Beijing Normal University School of Chinese Language and Literature was founded in 1902, making it China’s oldest language and literature institute. Previously known as the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the School acquired its present name in 2003, with the Department of Chinese Language and Literature as its flagship program.
The past century has seen the School branch out into new programs, fields and methods, thus contributing to China’s drive to excel and develop the fields of Chinese linguistics, culture and literature.
